Trinh Nguyen, LAC
Therapist

My name is Trinh Nguyen, I am a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) with a Bachelor in Psychology from Rutgers University and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kean University. I have professional experiences in the areas of substance abuse, co–occurring disorders, self-esteem, depression, grief & loss, trauma, anxiety, psychiatric disorders, and interpersonal challenges. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and diversity. Being a bicultural individual, I am able to see things from two different perspectives, which helps me remain open and adaptable to various personal values and ways of life. I pride myself on my ability to create a space where you would feel comfortable and understood to express your concerns and emotions freely. My goal is to create a partnership with you in this journey where we together can tap into your potential and utilize your strengths as tools to achieve your goals and personal growth.
My Counseling Approach: As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said: “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” I believe every individual has within themselves the tools they need to take actions towards the changes that will align with their values and uniqueness. As a result, I utilize techniques that will tailor to your strengths and individuality. I integrate multiple theoretical orientations including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person center Approach, Mindfulness–based Therapy, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma informed Care.
My Professional Passions: Contributing to raising awareness of mental health, fighting against cultural and social stigma of mental illness and empowering individuals to live out the best versions of themselves.
My Personal Passions: I enjoy eating as much as traveling. I am lucky to have been able to travel to 12 different countries in my lifetime. Meeting and learning about people from different walks of life have definitely enriched my growth as a person and a professional counselor.
